Summary of the decision
VA-19-08-086 — Terry Dragon
Request: "Variances in the R-1 zoning district to allow an addition to an existing single-family home as follows:
Decision: Approved
Hearing: "Staff noted that due to the cul-de-sac, the house had to be severely skewed on the lot to meet the front setback. This shifted the rear vary close to both the rear and side setback lines. In addition, to the right side and rear of the lot is a stormwater management tract belonging to the HOA. Since the applicant has no fence, there is no clear delineation where their property ends and the tract begins. The main issue with the application is the small screen room located at the end of the sunroom. This enclosure encroaches one (1)ft. into a utility easement. That portion of the easement being encroached upon would have to be abandoned to allow its use. Staff was recommending against that based on input from the Public Works staff. The applicant had submitted letters of support from the owners of six (6) properties from which one could see the addition.
