Request: Special Exception in the R-CE zoning district to establish a Daycare and Pre-K facility with a maximum of 60 children. (Property has an existing Church)

Hearing: Staff outlined the history of the Church, noting that the church had at one time operated a Pre-K school for which no complaints had been filed with the Code Enforcement Division. The Church has grown with the neighborhood to the point where it was actually a part of the area which would provide a service to the area. It was noted that a community meeting had been held, however, the only attendees were the County Commissioner and her staff, the BZA representative, and BZA staff plus the pastor of the Church, the project engineer, and nine members of the congregation. The applicant noted there agreement with the staff recommendation and conditions. There being no one present to speak for or against the application, the public hearing was closed. The BZA concluded that the request was compatible with the neighborhood, and would not pose any negative impacts. A motion for approval was passed unanimously.
