Summary of the decision

SE-00-05-015 — Hair in Motion of New York, Inc.

Request: Special Exception in P-O zone to convert existing residence into a beauty salon and Variance to allow unpaved parking.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The Staff Report is located on pages ---. Staff of the Zoning Division and Public Works Department had reviewed the proposed residential conversion; there was concern whether or not conversion to a commercial business could be accommodated on the property due to its small size and configuration. Staff recommended a reduction in the number of stations within the beauty salon, which in turn would reduce the number of parking spaces necessary. Staff recommended a maximum of six (6) stations based on the amount of yard space available for on-site parking and the amount of space available along the street. To address an access driveway width concern the Staff had, the applicant agreed to remove a portion of a wall located on the property to the south. Such removal would result in a much wider and thus safer driveway for vehicular movement in and out of the property. There was no opposition present at the public hearing.
