Summary of the decision

VA-04-05-155 — Jeffrey & Karen Perdue

Request: Variance in R-1AA (single family-10,000 sq. ft. lots) zone to construct second story addition to single family residence 18 ft. from normal high water elevation of Lake Holden (west side abutting canal) in lieu of 50 ft. (NOTE: The setback deficiency is from the canal, not the lake).

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The applicant wants to add a second story addition onto his house. The addition will meet the lake setback but not the setback from the canal. The applicant informed the BZA he would install a berm and swale system. In addition, he was not required to obtain a variance from canal when the first floor was constructed. Staff advised the BZA on a policy change regarding canals. The applicant obtained letters of no objection from his surrounding neighbors. There was no opposition.
