Summary of the decision

VA-03-04-044 — Richard Russell

Request: Variance in A-2 (agricultural) zone to place modular unit on substandard sized lot 22,500 sq. ft. in land area in lieu of 87,120 sq. ft. (2 acres).

Decision: Denied

Hearing: The applicant wants to place a mobile on the property. It is only 1/2 acre in size instead of the required 2 acres. Staff had concerns about the request because it did not comply with the zoning variance criteria. The site was large enough to build a single family residence without the need for any variances. Also, other land owners in the general area had to comply with the zoning requirements. Three (3) residents spoke in opposition to the request. They cited flooding and incompatibility concerns. The BZA agreed this request did not comply with the variance criteria.
