Summary of the decision

VA-01-04-028 — Eller Media Company

Request: Variance in C-2 zone to relocate existing billboard 650 ft. from another existing billboard to the east in lieu of 1000 ft. NOTE: Applicant has agreed to reduce height and size of sign from 50 ft. and 672 sq. ft. to 40 ft. and 400 sq. ft., respectively.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The applicant is relocating the existing billboard to the adjacent parcel. The existing billboard has three (3) legally non-conforming standards. The sig is too high, too big and does not meet the spacing requirement from other billboards. However, the new sign will have only one (1) non-conformity; spacing. The BZA felt the new sign was a step in the right direction and approved the request. Staff received 7 commentaries in favor of the request.
