Summary of the decision

VA-02-11-140 — Arthur E. Grindle

Request: Sign Variance in C-2 (general commercial) zone as follows: 1. Allow existing 40 ft. high pole sign to remain in lieu of 30 ft. 2. Allow existing pole sign with 323 sq. ft. of copy area in lieu of 300 sq. ft. of copy area. (NOTE: UPON FURTHER REVIEW OF THE SIGN CODES, VARIANCE #2 IS NOT NECESSARY)

Decision: Approved

Hearing: This case was a result of Code Enforcement action. A nearby competitor questioned the height of this sign. The applicant was unable to furnish a permit for the sign. The sign is too high. Thus, the applicant was advised by Code Enforcement to obtain a variance or be processed to the Code Enforcement Board. The BZA required the applicant to landscape the road frontage and allowed the sign to remain. There was no opposition at the hearing.
