Request: Variance in R-1 (single family-5,000 sq. ft. lots) zone to construct room addition to single family residence 20 ft. from front property line in lieu of 25 ft.

Hearing: The property contains a small two-bedroom house consisting of 880 square feet. The applicant is deeding the property to his son, who has a family of seven. They need to provide additional bedrooms and another bathroom. The applicant wants the 600 square foot addition on the front of the house versus the rear as a future expansion is proposed in the back yard as funds become available. Furthermore, the proposed addition will aesthetically improve the appearance of the front of the house. The location of the addition will reduce the amount of parking currently available in the driveway down to one space. Code requires a minimum of two paved parking spaces. The applicant agreed to replace the loss and comply with Code. There was no opposition to this request.
