Request: Variance in A-1 (agricultural) zone to allow mobile home on 1.4 acres of land area in lieu of 2 acres.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The property is located in an area where there is a mixture of mobile homes, single family residences, and plant nurseries. Three commentaries were received in opposition. Two opposers were concerned about mobile homes in general, and one was concerned that approval of a mobile home on less than two acres would set a precedent. The applicant submitted a site plan at the public hearing and photographs of the actual unit they are purchasing. The subject mobile home is a manufactured unit consisting of almost 2,000 square feet of living area. The exterior finish is siding and the windows have shutters. The BZA felt the unit proposed by the applicant and the location of it on-site would not have a detrimental impact on neighboring properties. They consequently approved the request based on the site plan and the photographic descriptions of the unit submitted. There was no opposition present at the public hearing.
