Request: Variances in R-AA zone as follows: 1. Erect detached accessory building (garage) 19 ft. 4 inches in height in lieu of 15 ft.; 2. Allow pool equipment within 5 ft. setback area of rear property line.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The extra height for the garage (Variance #1) is for a steep roof pitch that will be consistent with the design of the house and other homes under construction in the neighborhood. As to Variance #2, the applicant stated the purpose of putting the pool equipment in the rear yard setback was to hide it from view. The district board member noted there were other methods by which to hide the view of the pool equipment, such as putting it inside the garage, without having to ask for a Variance. Several commentaries were received in favor and on in opposition.
