Summary of the decision
VA-04-07-182 — Sheila Hill
Request: "Variances in R-1AA (single family-10,000 sq. ft. lots) zone to construct additions to existing detached accessory building as follows:
Decision: Approved
Hearing: "A previous Variance had been granted here allowing for an additional 310 square feet beyond Code for the original accessory building - a three-car garage and second story attic storage facility. The current request is to add an additional 562 square feet for a workshop and a greenhouse, for a total 1,872 square feet. Staff could not support this amount of accessory building on this lot. Staff worked out a compromise wherein the applicant conceded on the workshop in favor of the greenhouse. Staff supported the greenhouse due to its smaller size and height, and the fact that would be located on the side of the building oriented towards the center of the rear yard and not adjacent properties. The applicant showed a photograph of the proposed greenhouse, which confirmed the small size and aesthetic appeal. The applicant agreed to the conditions proposed. There was no opposition present at the public hearing."
