Summary of the decision
VA-01-02-011 — Leslie and Rick Gill
Request: Variances in A-2 zone for addition (2 vehicle carport) to single family residence as follows: 1. 9 feet 6 inches from front property line in lieu of 35 feet; 2. 8 feet from side (east) property line in lieu of 10 feet.
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The applicant's lot has a very constricted building window due to the shortness in depth to the lake and close proximity of the house to the road. They currently have a garage that affords only rear end vehicular exit to the road. The lot is located between two curves, and cars speed down the road. Vehicular rear end exit onto the road under these circumstances is not safe. A new two-car garage would be build with a side entrance and will include a three-point turn-around driveway that allows front end exit onto the road. Staff noted the site plan did not depict the three-point turn-around. The BZA added a condition to require this type of driveway. The applicant agreed with the condition. Three letters were received in favor. There was no opposition.
