Summary of the decision

VA-04-08-210 — Jagdish Singh

Request: Variance in C-2 (general commercial) zone to construct hotel buildings 75 ft. in height in lieu of 50 ft. (NOTE: Two hotel buildings are proposed - one six-story building and one five-story building).

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The applicant wants to build 2 separate hotels. They will each be 75 feet in height. Staff informed the BZA that similar height variances have been granted in and along the International Drive area. Staff informed the applicant and the BZA that taller buildings have greater opportunities to place wall signage on them so they can be seen from greater distances. Therefore, a condition should be imposed that prohibits any sign variances for this site. The applicant agreed to the condition. There was no opposition.
