Summary of the decision

VA-02-12-149 — Giovanni's Restaurant

Request: Variance in C-2 (general commercial) zone to allow restaurant to sell and serve alcohol (beer, wine & liquor) 725 ft. from public school (Shenandoah Elementary School) to the north in lieu of 1,000 ft.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: "The applicant operates several family owned restaurants in Central Florida. They want to sell and serve beer, wine and liquor within 1000 feet of the Shenandoah Elementary School. Staff advised the BZA of past County decisions regarding this type of request. Staff could not support the request because it did not comply with the variance criteria. The BZA overruled staff and approved the request with conditions because the applicant demonstrated he would be a responsible business owner and an asset to the community. There was no opposition."
