Summary of the decision

VA-02-02-025 — Micah Bass

Request: Variances in R-CE-2 zone (single family-2 acre lots) to construct two-story detached accessory building for recreational purposes as follows: 1. 768 sq. ft. in size in lieu of 500 sq. ft.; 2. 23 ft. in height in lieu of 15 ft.; 3. Allow kitchen facility.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: Variances 1 and 2 (size and height) are consistent with the nature and character of the lots and the homes in the community. As to the kitchen, the applicant stated this is for him and his wife's personal use. They want a sheltered outdoor type cooking and eating area that is conveniently located next to the pool and exercise area of the accessory building. The BZA placed conditions on the Variance approval to ensure the building would not be used as a separate residence and to ensure compatibility. There was no opposition to this request.
