Request: Special Exception in the A-1 zoning district to allow the construction of a 140 ft. high camouflaged monopole communication tower.

Hearing: SYNOPSIS: Staff described the proposal, including the location of the property, the site plan and tower specifications, the distance separation between the proposed tower and the nearest communication towers in the area, the distance separation between the proposed tower and the nearest residential and photos of the site. Staff provided an analysis of the six (6) criteria and the reasons for a recommendation for approval since the proposal meets the intent of the code. Staff noted that no comments were received in support or in opposition. The applicant presented a detailed Power Point presentation, described the site and landscape plans, elevations, and provided photo simulations. There was no one in attendance to speak in favor and one was in attendance to speak in opposition to the request. The BZA discussed the surrounding area, stated that the location and tower design was appropriate for the proposal and unanimously recommended approval of the Special Exception by a 6-0 vote, with one vacant, subject to the seven (7) conditions in the staff report.
