Summary of the decision
VA-04-09-007 — Justin Bucklew
Request: Variances in R-1A (single family-7,500 sq. ft. lots) zone to construct two-story detached accessory building (garage) as follows: 1) 1,200 sq. ft. in lieu of 626 sq. ft.; 2) 23.5 ft. in height in lieu of 15 ft. Approved w/conditions (9/02/2004)
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The request for an oversized building is consistent with previous similar BZA approvals, based on the size of the property and the size of the proposed accessory building. The height and design of the accessory building will be aesthetically consistent with the house, which is 34 feet in height with a pitched roof. The property is an odd-shaped lot with a long driveway leading from the road to the point where the house and garage will be built. There will be very little view of either structure from the road. There were no persons present in opposition at the BZA hearing. The BZA imposed three conditions to ensure the building is never used in violation of zoning.
