Summary of the decision
SE-03-12-089 — Camellia Pointe, Ltd.
Request: Special Exception in R-3 (multifamily) zone to build apartment buildings 45 ft. in height in lieu of 35 ft.
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The extra 10 feet in height was requested to provide a more aesthetically-pleasing pitched roof design for the apartment buildings. All the extra height is confined to roof area and not living area. The project abuts non-residential uses to the north and south, and is located 100 feet away from residential uses to the east and west. An owner within the Hidden Creek Condominiums to the west spoke in opposition, expressing concerns about loss of privacy and security. To address this concern, the BZA imposed the landscape buffer restriction along the west property line of the building area.
