Summary of the decision
VA-02-05-060 — Mark Nasrallah, Agent for Joseph Fatone
Request: Variances in R-CE (single family-1 acre lots) zone to erect accessory building (garage/storage room) as follows: 1. In front of residence in lieu of rear; 2. With 3,580 sq. ft. floor area in lieu of 3,269 sq. ft.; 3. At 28 ft. in height in lieu of 15 ft.
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The property owner's house is over 12,000 square feet in size and sits towards the back of the property. The accessory building will be designed in likeness to the home and will be located adjacent to it, more than 140 feet from the front property line. The owner's hobby is owning and restoring classic cars. The building is intended to be the owner's "hobby house" in which he will store the cars "showcase" style. There is a work room and bathroom to accommodate the owner's mechanic to work on the cars. There was no opposition at the public hearing. The BZA placed conditions on the approval to ensure aesthetic compatibility and no violation as to the use of building when the property is sold to another party.
