Summary of the decision

VA-13-12-096 — Steven Burke

Request: "Variances in P-D zone for additional signage as follows:

Decision: Denied

Hearing: "Staff presented the case stating the request is for a 26 ft. in height ground sign with 320 sq.ft. in copy area and an additional ground sign. Staff indicated it did not support the height and copy area variances. Conditions of approval from the P-D zoning prohibit pole signs. Staff recognized the fact that the property is one parcel with substantial road frontage. The Applicants representative indicated this was a mixed use development with retail on the first floor and residential on the remaining floors. The applicant submitted a revised plan reducing the height to 22 ft. and a copy area of 150 ft. BZA concluded the height and copy area requests were excessive and the third ground sign was reasonable.
