Summary of the decision
SE-01-03-016 — Federation of Pentecostal Church
Request: Special Exception in R-1A zone for church use and Variance for unpaved parking in lieu of paved (applicant proposes three (3) modular units for church use; applicant will remove existing mobile home).
Decision: Approved
Hearing: Staff's report is located on Pages 42 through 44. The applicant wants to use the property for church use. They are removing the existing mobile home and will place 3 modular units on the site. The applicant stated their purpose. They want to provide religious services for the Spanish speaking population in the immediate area. A representative for Take Action for Taft spoke in opposition. He felt the area had a traffic problem and the proposed use was not compatible with the area. A pastor from a nearby church spoke in favor. She stated the site used to look like a dump and this proposal would clean up the site. The BZA agreed and imposed additional conditions to ensure compatibility.
