VA-01-08-059 — Sharon Morgan and Farrell Duncan
Request: Variances in A-1 zone as follows: 1. Erect single family residence 15 ft. from rear property line in liue of 50 ft.; 2. Erect detached accessory building (3 car garage) with 1,000 square feet of floor area in lieu of 500 square feet.
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The applicants purchased a vacant lot, rectangular in size. The lot has two large cluster of trees, which the applicant wants to preserve. The lot is located at a busy intersection. The applicants wish to preserve the trees and move away from the intersection by locating the house in the rear southwest corner of the lot. This necessitates a variance to the rear yard setback. Also, the applicants want to build a 1,000 square foot garage to house their three street vehicles, recreational vehicles, and lawn equipment. Designs of the builidng were submitted showing consistency with that of the residence design. The applicants met with their neighbors regarding the proposed construction. They assured the residents that the garage would not be used to operate a commercial business. There was no opposition present at the public hearing.
