Summary of the decision
VA-11-04-016 — George Henderson
Request: Variance in a R-1A zone to construct an addition to a single family home 6.68 ft from the side (east) property line in lieu of 7.5 ft.
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The applicant proposed to construct an addition to the rear of the home. The addition is an expansion to the master bedroom. Due to the angle of the house and the applicant wanting to keep the lines of the house, the addition protrudes into the side setback by 8 inches.
Orange County code allows the Zoning Manager to administratively approve a variance on side setbacks if the variance requested is under 3 percent of the setback. This request falls just shy of that standard.
Due to the minimal nature of the request, staff recommended approval.
No one spoke at the public hearing.
