Request: Variances in R-1A (single family-7,500 sq. ft. lots) zone as follows: 1) Construct detached accessory building (gazebo) with 576 sq. ft. of floor area in lieu of 500 sq. ft.; 2) Allow 1,386 sq. ft of cumulative square footage in lieu of 500 sq. ft.; and 3) Allow 0 ft. separation between detached structures in lieu of 10 ft.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The applicant wants to construct a gazebo that will exceed the permitted floor area for the designated zoning district. In addition, there is an existing detached garage. Therefore, variances are required for exceeding cumulative square footage for both structures and 0 ft. separation of the rooflines though not connected. The gazebo will have only a roof with no walls, completely open, and constructed to shade and protect the decking area. The applicant submitted letters of support from the adjacent property owners.
