Summary of the decision

VA-03-06-062 — Gregory & Nancy Williams

Request: Variances in R-1AA (single family-10,000 sq. ft. lots) zone to construct additions (bedroom and screen room enclosure) to single family residence as follows: 1) 42 ft. from the normal high water elevation of Lake Sue in lieu of 50 ft.; 2) 7 ft. from side property lines in lieu of 7.5 ft.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The Rose Isle Subdivision was developed in the 1950's. The property owners have been making renovations to the homes to modernize them. Sometimes those renovations necessitate variances to the zoning codes that were not in place when the homes were built. The applicant's renovation project involves two additions at the rear of the house (Variance to normal high water elevation of lake). The variance is reasonable and consistent with other similar variances approved on lakeside properties in the subdivision. The secondary variance is a minor one-half foot along the side lot lines. The additions with the one-half foot variation will match up to the existing house line on both sides. Approximately one dozen neighbors wrote in favor of the request. There was no opposition.
