Request: Special Exception in R-1A zone for 140 ft. tall camouflaged communications tower (pine tree design proposed).

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The Staff Report and recommendation is located on Pages ____. Five commentaries were received in opposition. The concerns were related to the health-related radiation issue, and also to aesthetics; the opposition was concerned the proposed pine tree would not look as pleasing as the photographs the applicant presented. Staff showed the BZA photographs of two other pine tree designs this applicant has already built , and stated the proposed design at this location would be the same. Furthermore, the applicant has submitted design specifications for the branches that were the same used for the other two tree projects. The applicant showed the BZA samples of the painted bark design; one was chosen that was felt to be the most natural to blend in with the surroundings; it was submitted as a part of the record. There were no individuals present in opposition at the public hearing.
