Summary of the decision
VA-03-02-012 — Kleber Miller
Request: Variances in A-1 (agricultural) zone to allow accessory use (storage building) as follows: 1. Construct building prior to construction of the residence; 2. Allow building to remain in front of residence in lieu of rear. (NOTE: Applicant proposes to complete house construction within 2 years).
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The applicant explained he will be constructing the house and wants to have the materials stored within the proposed building during that process. They have not completed the house plans yet. The applicant said that he has a financial commitment on the storage building, but it will be lost if he does not purchase it and get it moved to the property soon. These are the reasons for Variance #1. Regarding Variance #2, this is a 2 1/2 acre tract of agricultural land located in a rural, county-like setting. The site is isolated and heavily treed. The accessory building is set back more than 80 feet from the road. The building is quite similar in appearance as to on-site location compared to other properties in the area. Nine commentaries/letters were submitted in favor. There was no opposition.
