Summary of the decision
SE-03-11-078 — Hindu University of America
Request: Special Exception in R-CE (single family-1 acres lots) zone to amend previous educational use approval to include a total of 37,200 sq. ft. of office and classroom space and 28 housing units for faculty and students. (NOTE: This property was approved for educational use with on-site lodging by the BZA on July 6, 2000. This request represents an amendment to that approval).
Decision: Approved
Hearing: "The Staff Report and Recommendation is located on Pages____. The applicant is revising his previous approval. They are increasing the number of students, adding classrooms and office square footage. The site is large enough to accommodate the expansion while providing good buffers for the adjacent parcels. I property owner to the east spoke about access to his property. The applicant indicated he had a parcel on Dean Road that was bisected by the Econlockhatchee River. Although he already has use of his property he wanted this applicant to provide him additional access for the property on the other side of the river. The BZA concluded the adjacent property was not landlocked and the applicant had no obligation to provide the neighbor any additional access. The BZA concluded the location was appropriate for the expansion and approved the request."
