Summary of the decision
VA-99-09-008 — David A. Janney - September 2, 1999
Request: For Variance in R-1AA zone to erect addition (bedroom) 25 ft. from rear (northeasterly) property line in lieu of 35 ft.
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The property is a corner lot in the Rio Pinar subdivision. It is a large, oversized lot but the house and existing amenities are located far from the front property line, leaving very little room at the rear yard. There is no room to put the addition on the El Prado Street side due to the septic tank system and the back yard amenities. To put the addition in the front yard on the Ensenada Street side would not be compatible with the line of sight common to the location of the homes on this street side. It was determined the best location for the small addition would be at the rear, where it would not be seen from adjacent properties. Both abutting property owners and the president of the homeowner's association submitted letters of no objection.
