Request: Special Exception in R-2 and R-1 zones for a private recreation area (passive park).

Hearing: The applicant has volunteered to designate her property as a private park. She would own and maintain the park. The park designation allows the law enforcement agencies to prosecute individuals engaged in illicit drug activity within 1,000 feet of a park. The penalties for such activities increase when within 1,000 feet of any park. The site is currently being used for drug sales. Staff, in cooperation with the Ivey Lane Task Force, feels approval of this request would be in the public's best interests. A copy of the Staff Report is attached. The president of the Washington Shores Homeowners Association spoke in favor of the request. There was no opposition.
