Summary of the decision

SE-01-07-046 — Pine Hills Athletic Club

Request: Special Exception in P-O zone for private indoor sports and recreation club and Variance to allow unpaved parking (gravel) in lieu of paved.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The Staff Report and Recommendation is located on Pages 103, 104 and 105. The applicant wants to lease an office building for a private social/athletic club. The club's primary activity is playing cricket. Staff presented its findings. Staff felt the request was not consistent with the existing development trend along Pine Hills Road. Further, staff felt the use could adversely impact the privacy rights of the neighbors who reside to the west of the site. A neighbor to the west submitted a video. The BZA viewed the video. The video showed beer bottles and debris scattered throughout the site. The applicant stated the debris and bottles were not associated with the club. The BZA imposed conditions that helped prevent any adverse impacts to offsite uses. There was no opposition at the hearing.
