Summary of the decision
VA-99-09-011 — C & S Signs
Request: For Variance in P-D zone to erect facia sign 416 sq. ft. in lieu of 400 sq. ft.
Decision: Denied
Hearing: This site is within a Planned Development called "SouthPark P-D". This P-D has a wall signage limit of 400 square feet. The Wal-Mart Superstore has used up approximately 375 square feet of the allowable square footage. McDonalds and Community Bank is also located within the superstore building. There is enough wall signage left for the McDonalds store but not for the bank. Staff advised the BZA that Wal-Mart should take down some of their signage to accommodate the bank's signage needs. The BZA felt that this was an issue between Wal-Mart and the Community Bank folks. Also, the BZA did not want to set an undesirable precedent, which would result in other tenants requesting an increase in storefront signage. There was no opposition.
