Summary of the decision

VA-00-12-013 — Don & Kendra Pearson

Request: Variance in R-1AA zone to allow existing addition (Florida room) to single family residence to remain as follows: 1) 17 ft. from rear property line in lieu of 35 ft., and 2) 2 ft. from side property line in lieu of 7.5 ft.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The applicant stated the subject addition was built by the previous owners in the 1970's. It was built without a permit. The ceiling amd roof are deteriorating, and the applicant needs to either replace the addition or modify it. At the public hearing, the applicant submitted a revised site plan showing the new addition would now meet the side yard setback, and also, that there would be an approximate 90 square foot reduction in the size of the addition at the rear. The BZA felt the new site plan constituted an improvement to what has existed over the years. A petition was submitted with approximately 10 signatures in favor of the request. There was no opposition.
