Summary of the decision
2/3/2005 #04 — RADIKA R. SINGH/CONT. TO 2-3-05
Request: (NE 1/4 of NE 1/4 15-22-28 Tract Size: 1.6 acres)
Decision: Denied
Hearing: The Staff Report and Recommendation is located on Pages____.
The applicant wants to construct a 6,250 sq. ft. community residential home with 12 clients. Parking will be at the rear. There are single family homes on the west side of Apopka-Vineland Road. The Evans 9th Grade Center is directly across the street.
Staff could not support the request because the size of the facility was almost 3 times the size of the average home in the area.
Four (4) nearby residents, including the adjacent homeowners, spoke in opposition. They felt the request was not in harmony with their homes. They had expectations that the parcel would be used for single family purposes not a facility with 12 clients. They submitted a petition signed by 53 homeowners in opposition.
The BZA concluded the request was not consistent with the County's Comprehensive Policy Plan and the existing development trend of the area.
