Summary of the decision

VA-19-08-079 — Irnaldo Diaz

Request: "Variances in the R-1 zoning district to allow accessory structures as follows:

Decision: Denied

Hearing: "Staff explained the history of the property, including its purchase by the applicant, and the code enforcement action which resulted in the current variance. Staff noted that two (2) other variance had been approved in this neighborhood in the past, but for smaller total floor area. Staff explained that if the smallest two (2) sheds in the southwest corner of the property were removed, variances 2-4 would not be necessary, and the variance would be reduced to 660 sq. ft. This would result in a lesser variance, and allow the retention of the carport and the newer looking smaller shed. Staff noted that the lot is twice the size required for an R-1 zoned lot, therefore, the lot will not look over developed. Staff noted that they had not received any correspondence in support or opposition to the request.
