Summary of the decision
VA-06-06-012 — ROBERT REED
Request: NE 1/4 30-23-29 65 ft. x 100 ft.
Hearing: The applicant proposes a one-car garage with a new u-shaped driveway within the front yard setback area of his home. The house was originally built directly against the 25-foot setback line, leaving no room for improvements without Variance relief.
Many homes in this subdivision were built close to the front setback or rear setback lines, leaving very little room for home additions without some Variance relief. A number of front and rear yard Variances have been approved for this reason. The applicant's request is consistent with those past approvals. Several commentaries were written in support of the request. There was no opposition.
The BZA pointed out that since there would be a new driveway, the existing driveway should be removed and sodded with grass for aesthetic purposes. Therefore, the BZA added this as a condition of approval.
Several commentaries were received in favor. There was no opposition.
