Decision: Approved

Hearing: The applicant proposes to place 65 extra sq. ft. of signage on the building faces of the new Wal-Mart Store.

Staff advised the BZA the applicant was willing to reduce the number of freestanding signs along the roadway if the variance is granted. The code would allow 2 ground signs and the applicant has agreed to limit themselves to 1 ten foot high monument sign.

The BZA concluded reducing signage along the major roadways was a better option than denying the variance and allowing the applicant to place an extra sign out along the roadways.

Two (2) residents spoke in opposition. They had concerns about sign clutter.

Staff advised the BZA that the proposal by the applicant would actually reduce sign clutter.

The BZA agreed.
