Summary of the decision
VA-02-12-146 — Mark Nasrallah
Request: Variances in R-CE (single family-1 acre lots) zone as follows: 1. To allow second kitchen ("catering kitchen") within primary residence; 2. To allow detached ancillary living quarters (no kitchen) in front yard for guests. (NOTE: single family residence and guest quarters are under construction)
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The proposed residential development is located in an area where large estate-type homes have been built. There have other variances to allow secondary ancillary buildings or uses to accommodate the unique circumstances. The catering kitchen is a small separate one from the resident's personal kitchen. The requested kitchen is for catering large parties and special events located in the front part of the home for delivery purposes. The guest quarters, located in front of the main house, do not include a kitchen. This is a large parcel of land, and all the buildings will be located far back off the road. There was no public opposition to this request.
