Summary of the decision

VA-03-06-057 — John Slade

Request: Variance in R-1A (single family-5,000 sq. ft. lots) zone to construct addition to single family residence 24 ft. from rear property line in lieu of 30 ft.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The applicant requested a Variance in the R-IA zone to construct an addition to his single-family residence 24 feet from the rear property line in lieu of 30 feet. The applicant¿s wife is currently pregnant with their first child. The addition will be an extension of their bedroom and will be used to keep the baby close to them. Staff determined that the proposed addition is consistent with the character of the homes of the surrounding properties, and thus recommended approval of this request. There was no one present to support or object to this request. The applicant wanted it to be known that the addition needed to be built quickly as his wife was due within 3 months. The Board had no questions for the applicant or staff and unanimously approved the request.
