Summary of the decision

SE-16-06-049 — WILLIAM LUGO

Request: Special Exception and Variance in the R-2 zoning district as follows: 1) Special Exception for an attached Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) for applicant's mother; and, 2) Variance to allow ADU with a minimum of 384 sq. ft. in lieu of 400 sq. ft.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: Staff conducted a brief presentation reflecting the location of the A.D.U., and describing a photograph of the property to assess the visual impact of the addition. The applicant agreed with the staff recommendations. The BZA clarified that the Variance was for the A.D.U., to be smaller than required. Staff received seven (7) commentaries in favor of the application and two (2) in opposition. There was no opposition at the hearing. The BZA approved the Special Exception and the Variance.
