Summary of the decision
SE-00-04-017 — Robert Finfrock
Request: Special Exception in R-CE zone to operate a seaplane and to construct an enclosed garage (for seaplane storage) attached to proposed single family residence.
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The applicant owns 2.3 acres of dry land. He wants to build a large home with an enclosed garage to store an experimental seaplane. The seaplane is allowed by law to use the lake but requires a Special Exception to store the plane on his lot. He met several times with his neighbors, most of which are lakefront lot owners. Staff informed the BZA that Special Exceptions for seaplane storage require R-CE zoning. This was the only R-CE zoned parcel on the shores of Little Lake Fairview. The applicant informed the BZA of his plans. He stated he met with his neighbors and has received their support. Staff received 18 letters in favor and one (1) in opposition. The BZA felt this request was embraced by the neighbors and approved the request.
