Summary of the decision

VA-03-01-002 — John Windham

Request: Variance in R-1A (single family-7,500 sq. ft. lots) zone to allow a cumulative total of 1,120 sq. ft. for accessory buildings in lieu of 500 sq. ft. (NOTE: new 500 sq. ft. garage proposed; one 500 sq. ft. garage and shed are existing)

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The applicant has over one acre of land. His family has many personal sports cars, motorcycles, ATV's and other sports equipment that need to be under cover. The new 500 sq. ft. building and the existing 500 sq. ft. building would house these items. He stated the smaller shed located midway of the property contains his lawn care equipment. Staff noted this shed sits within the side yard setback area and within a 7 foot utility easement. The applicant agreed to relocate the shed out of the setback/easement area as a condition of variance approval. Several neighbors wrote in favor of the request. There was no opposition.
