Summary of the decision
VA-00-12-007 — Irt Property Company
Request: Variance in C-2 zone to redevelop existing shopping center with a rear yard building setback of 10 ft. in lieu of 25 ft. (Note: Applicant proposes a minimum 6 ft. high masonry wall on rear (north) property line.
Decision: Approved
Hearing: "The applicant gave an overview of the request. The site will be redeveloped for Publix's use. The applicant proposes an alternative landscape design that includes a wall and trees. Staff gave a comparison between what the code would require versus what the applicant is providing. The applicant's proposal far exceeds what the code requires. In addition, the applicant agreed to additional restrictions regarding hours of operation for the compactor and signage. A spokesperson for the Conway Community Council spoke. She had concerns about the wall on the rear. She felt the wall should be 8 feet along the entire length. The BZA felt the applicant had agreed to many concessions and the project, with the conditions, would be an asset to the community."
