Request: Variance in R-1AA (single family - 10,000 sq. ft. lots) zone to construct two (2) story addition to single family residence 27 ft. from front property line in lieu of 30 ft. (NOTE: Applicant is proposing a 2-car garage on first floor and a master bedroom and bath on second floor)

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The applicants requested a Variance in the R-IAA zone to construct a two-story half addition to their single-family residence 27 feet from the front property line in lieu of 30 feet. The septic system and drainfield that serve this property are currently failing. As a result of the new construction, the septic system will be removed and a new, updated system will be installed along with a new drain field. Staff recommended approval of this request subject to the condition that there will not be a window installed on the west side of the addition. There were no objections to this request. The applicant assured the Board that there would not be a window on the west side of the addition and that the encroachment was as minimal as they could make it. The Board agreed with Staff¿s recommendation and unanimously approved this request subject to Staff¿s condition.
