Request: Special Exception in R-1 zone to expand existing church use to include fellowship hall building.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: At the BZA hearing, no representatives of adjacent properties appeared in favor or in opposition to the request. The applicant held a community meeting on October 22, 1999, and seven (7) people attended. The community meeting attendees were generally in favor of the request. The applicant submitted a commentary summarizing the community meeting results. No other commentaries were received on this case. At the BZA hearing, Staff briefly presented proposed revisions to the conditions of approval. The applicant and her representative requested a reduction in the hedge screening requirement, as it may not be necessary along the entire length of the eastern property line. BZA members agreed to only requiring the screen hedge adjacent to the proposed fellowhip hall location. Mr. Fabry moved to approve the amended conditions, seconded by Mr. McClendon. The BZA voted unanimously to approve the Special Exception subject to the revised conditions as listed above.
