Summary of the decision
VA-02-11-133 — Central Florida Crysler Jeep Dodge
Request: Variance in Ind-3 zone for signage as follows: 1. Allow 670 sq. ft. of building fascia signage in lieu of 207 sq. ft.; 2. Allow 145.5 sq. ft. total copy area (pole & ground signs) in lieu of 123 sq. ft. (NOTE: Determined variance #2 not necessary).
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The subject property is a large parcel with two road frontages that would have allowed much more copy area for ground and pole signs than what their plans called for. The applicant more than adequately meets the requirements for ground/pole signs, and therefore, Variance #2 was administratively withdrawn. The applicant wants to put several signs on the building, which, based on the amount of copy area requested, requires a variance. Several signs are small and inconsequential. Two are identification signs for both the internal roadway and the external roadway. The third sign is an electronic readerboard. The readerboard sign is narrow in depth and is not oversized based on the large size of the building. Staff supported the request and proposed conditions to ensure compliance with the proposed signage. The conditions prevent any additional ground, pole, or building signs on the property. The applicant agreed to the conditions. There was no opposition to this request.
