Summary of the decision
VA-02-12-145 — Mark Nasrallah
Request: Variances in P-D zone to construct residential & accessory buildings as follows: 1. Single family residence 52 ft. in height in lieu of 35 ft.; 2. Detached garage in front of residence in lieu of rear; 3. Guest house 23 ft. in height in lieu of 15 ft.; 4. Allow cumulative square footage of three (3) accessory buildings at 3,526 sq. ft. in lieu of 2,000 sq. ft.
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The request for height is confined to the middle section of the house (cupola area) and a tower. The request is consistent with three other height variances approved in the subdivision. The three accessory buildings are a guest cottage, a pool cabana, and a garage in front of the residence. All the buildings are proportionately sized with one another and appropriately located on-site. The overall development will be aesthetically-pleasing. Staff pointed out there is an active architectural review board who needs to be informed of the request. Written approval is needed from the board before construction can take place. The applicant agreed to secure the letter as a condition of Variance approval. There was no public opposition to this request.
