Request: Variance in R-1AA zone to erect new ground sign (existing sign to be removed) as follows: 1. 9 ft. in height in lieu of 8 ft.; 2. 53 sq. ft. of copy area in lieu of 32 sq. ft.

Hearing: The applicant currently has a large nonconforming rectangular sign nine (9) feet in height and with 80 square feet of copy area. The nonconforming ("grandfathering") status of that sign allows it to remain unless destroyed or voluntarily removed by the applicant. The applicant wishes to have a nicer looking and more up-to-date type sign. They wish to remove the current sign and install a new monumemt style sign. The new sign is more aesthetically-pleasing from a design standpoint. Furthermore, the applicant has agreed to "dress-up" the base of the sign for an enhanced appearance along Wymore Road. There was no opposition to this request.
