Summary of the decision
SE-03-10-062 — Reginald Deochand
Request: Special Exception in P-O (professional office) zone to operate a beauty salon.
Decision: Denied
Hearing: The Staff Report and Recommendation is located on Pages____. Staff's point in recommending denial of this request is that the property isn't big enough to accommodate the increased parking demands of a beauty salon. The applicant offered alternative locations for off-site parking. However, those locations were not allowed for this use because they are either located on residential property or on property not approved for commercial parking use. The BZA discussed this case at length prior to rendering a decision. The BZA members felt there were no options available to alleviate the parking problem due to the size of the property. Some Board members expressed concern that allowing the business on-site without sufficient parking would result in traffic safety issues on Oakridge Road and on adjacent residential streets. For this reason, the BZA recommended denial of the request.
