Request: Special Exception in P-O (professional office) zone to allow continued operation of a college. (NOTE: This is the Florida Technical College building which was built in 1982. Avega Career Institute will be the new tenant. No new construction is proposed. The building has been used continuously as a private school since 1982).

Hearing: The Staff Report and Recommendation is located on Pages______. The applicant wants to occupy the existing building. The building had been used by Florida Technical College. However, zoning records do not indicate approval was ever granted to operate a college at the site. Staff concluded the request was compatible with the surrounding uses which are commercial in nature. However, discussion ensued regarding parking. Staff advised the BZA the previous college had too many students and not enough parking. The BZA imposed a condition that limited the number of persons that could be on the property at any given time. The BZA agreed. There was no opposition.
